Is anyone going to any organised displays this year? I'm not, but it doesn't really matter because loads of people in my area have their own displays going on and also you can see fireworks going off on the other side of town too I went to one "proper" display in the next town in 1992, it was brilliant but there were far too many people there for my liking - too crushed

I'm thinking of going to the Battersea Park display in London again - it was good last year. I'm a bit put off by the fact that it is likely to be chucking it down all day though

Aww I hope it doesn't rain for you. I'm going to sound like a right misery - but I hate fireworks. When I was riding my bike years ago (I was about 15), some ba*tard chucked a firework into the road in front of me. It went off with such a bang! I have never liked fireworks since....especially bangers!

That's nasty! A few years ago we decided to have fireworks in the garden for the first time. My god those things were loud! The instructions said there should be 5 metres in each direction from the firework as well, but my garden is nowhere near that big so we put the fireworks as far away as we could (about 3 metres) and then cowered in the opposite corner of the garden in terror! I was so sure we were going to either burn the house down or end up deaf!

God!! you have to be sooo careful nowadays. The fireworks have got more powerful and louder I do wish some of the louder ones could be banned. I feel so sorry for the elderly... and animals too. ...

How I hate November the 5th . Guy Fawkes must be laughing in his grave.
He tried to blow up parliament and the King (in other words he was a terrorist)
I know this day is supposed to celebrate his capture by burning his effigy, but do all the bangs and rockets and stuff have to accompany it?. We may as well get barrels of gunpowder while were at it!.
Sorry to get on my soap box.
*groans at the distant sounds of bangs and pops*
Humbug!

Someone is setting off fireworks not far from here - one of them was a big bang that made me jump!

My dog used to hide under the couch and would follow us around everywhere...she would have been really scared tonight - and last night!

Our dog pants and shakes. He doesn't know what to do with himself. If an exceptionally loud banger goes off, he will run up two flights of stairs to the attic! Bloody fireworks

We went to the big display on the Prom on Saturday. Leonie wasn't too sure at first (she didn't see anything last year because she slept through it) because of all the bright lights, she was fine with the noise because one of my idiot neighbours has been letting off display fireworks in his back garden. Once she got into it, though, she was pointing at them all and going "Mummy, Mummy!"

We watched the display on the Thames at Bankside instead of going to Battersea Park - it had the advantage that we could watch from the pub! And it didn't rain on us! Yay!
