I'm still on the fence about this - on the one hand, people will be able to get alcohol whenever they want, but on the other, people who work weird hours can have a post-work drink. I don't think it will cause the downfall of society, though, like some people have said - after all, they said the same thing about Sunday trading and it didn't.

I'm actually in favour of this, mainly because one of my least favourite places is Leicester Square at 11.30 on a Saturday night when it's packed full of people who have been kicked out of all the local bars and pubs and are now wandering around looking for trouble. I hate having to weave my way through crowds of drunken idiots to get home. I think that it will be better if people can leave when they are ready rather than downing their drinks rapidly and then all leaving at once.
Sure, some people will abuse the privilege of being able to drink for longer but I think that the vast majority of people are sensible enough to know their limits.

Hmmm...I think I will maybe sit on the fence with this too. I'm still not convinced. I know this will be beneficial to some people but... It will be interesting to see what happens.

Apparently the 11pm closing time was brought in during World War 1 because of beer rationing. Somehow they never got rid of that rule until now.
