Writer's fury at Robinson age slurScreen-writer Lynda La Plante ran into her arch-nemesis, Anne Robinson, at the Ivy Restaurant last week. It was the first time they'd met since an episode of The Weakest Link when Anne Robinson wrongly accused LLP of lying about her age to adopt a son, Lorcan. "You can't imagine the suffering Lynda went through," says a friend. "She could have lost her son. So when she saw Anne two tables away, she decided to confront her." The restaurant fell silent as LLP strode purposefully to the table: "I am Lynda La Plante and you destroyed my life for a year," she said. "This isn't the time or the place," said Robinson. "Neither was a television show with 2 million viewers," she replied. Adds one witness: "Robinson went beetroot red, and Lynda returned to her table, with the applause of fellow diners ringing in her ears." source = news.independent.co.uk*joins in with the applause*

Good on Lynda, Anne Robinson had to right to say something terrible like that live on air I've never liked her, I don't like her manner.

I know Anne has the excuse 'she is playing a character' for being a nasty bitch on the show but she does take it too far. She gets so personal at times, the crack at LLP was inappropriate. I caught a snippet of her show yesterday when she had a completely unprovoked dig at Penny Poiser's (? the re-cycling woman) weight. Snide comments about a contestant's intellect are one thing - after all it is about eliminating the least knowledgeable player from the team - but when she strays away from this and starts to get overly personal I don't think there is any excuse.
