I don't know about anyone else, but I'm fed up hearing all the speculation about a mutated form of bird flu spreading over the world! It's like when there was all the fuss about SARS, that never came to anything in the end - I know it's best to be prepared for things like that, but the news is very guilty of scaremongering all the same...

I agree. When you hear words like ‘pandemic’ and ‘Global Epidemic’ being banded about its enough to frighten anyone.

I'm not really scared for myself, but I would be scared if any of the people I love got it, like my family and Jon

A parrot has just brought the first case of bird flu to Britain.....................but it was in quarantine. How many people will overreact to this and start panicking like scared sheep?

*Enter John Cleese* “ I wish to register a complaint” Well honestly, it does sounds like the parrot sketch from Monty Python.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t find anything funny about the whole thing at all, but I wish people would stop scare mongering unnecessarily.
I just hope this flu never reaches our shores, or at least lets hope by they time it gets here it will have weakened.

There's no point in panicking anyway, what good would it do? I could go out my front door and get knocked down and killed by a car mounting the pavement, but I don't panic about that. If people panic too much they'll turn into recluses and never leave the house, and you can't do that.
